# Projects

> Bring the Actions, files, people and conversations for one body of work into one place.

A Project brings related work together: its Actions, files, people and Beacon conversations. Work shown inside a Project still belongs to its own record. It does not become a separate copy.

## Find a Project

Choose **Projects** in the sidebar for every Project you can open, as cards or as a table. The sidebar also lists your Projects alphabetically. Star a Project to find it quickly under **Favorites**.

## Create a Project

Choose **New project** on Home, on the Projects page, or with the plus button beside Projects in the sidebar. Enter a name and, if you like:

* A description, a mark and a colour for the Project.
* **Access**, to decide who can open it from the start.
* A **Project lead**. The lead is responsible for the work. This does not give them access, so add them to Access if they need it.
* A **status**, the **client** (one of your Organisation's Companies), a value and a location.

Your Admin may require some of these, and may issue Project numbers automatically. See **Settings > Projects**.

## Inside a Project

Open a Project to see its tabs. A field with nothing in it shows what you can add, such as **Add start date**, or **Not set** if you cannot change it.

| Tab | What it shows |
| - | - |
| **Overview** | How the Project stands. |
| **Actions** | The Project's Actions. **New action** starts one in this Project. |
| **Programme** | The Project's milestones on a timeline. It appears once the Project has a milestone; add the first with **Add milestone** in the Project's **⋯** menu. |
| **Creations** | What has been made in this Project, such as its dashboards, in one list. |
| **Files** | The Project's files. Beacon reads these when you chat in this Project. |
| **Comments** | Conversation about the Project. |
| **Activity** | A feed of what has changed in the Project. |

**Share** and **Settings** open over the Project. Its Beacon conversations live on its Beacon page. See [Projects in Beacon](https://docs.saphion.co.uk/beacon/projects.md).

## Who can open a Project

Share a Project to decide who can open it. People and teams are given one of four levels:

* **Can view**
* **Can comment**
* **Can edit**
* **Can manage** (edit, and change who has access)

You can also open a Project to everyone in your Organisation at one of the first three levels. A Member proposes this and an Admin approves it. The Projects page and the sidebar show only Projects you can open. If you try to open one you cannot, Saphion says so and shows you how to ask for access, without telling you anything about what is inside.

## Archive and delete

Archiving a Project hides it everywhere else, and you can restore it at any time from **Archive**. Deleting a Project permanently deletes it and its chats, and does not go through the Bin, so archive it if you might want it back. See [Bin and restore](https://docs.saphion.co.uk/admin/bin-and-restore.md).
