# Companies and people

> Keep the business people and companies your Organisation works with in one shared place.

**Contacts** holds the business people and companies your Organisation works with: clients, suppliers, partners and the people who work for them. They are shared across Saphion. A Project names its client from your Companies, and any product your Organisation holds draws on the same records.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Contacts are not members. Adding someone as a Contact does not invite them to your Organisation or give them access to Saphion. To bring a colleague in, see [Members and roles](https://docs.saphion.co.uk/admin/members-and-roles.md).

## Two tabs

Choose **Contacts** in the Workspace group of the sidebar.

* **People** lists individual Contacts. A Contact has a name, company, role, email and phone number.
* **Companies** lists Companies. A Company has a name, website, owner, its Contacts and when it last had activity.

Open a row to see its record panel. A Company also has a page of its own. See [Record panel and attachments](https://docs.saphion.co.uk/work/record-panel-and-attachments.md).

## Add and change records

Use the page's **New** button, such as **New contact**, to add a record, and edit values in place in the table. A Contact is linked to its Company. Every record also has **Attachments** for its files.

## Who can see and change them

By default every Member can view, add and edit Contacts and Companies. An Admin can take any of those powers away from the Members Permission and give them back to chosen people or teams. A tab only appears for someone who holds the power to view it. See [Members and roles](https://docs.saphion.co.uk/admin/members-and-roles.md).

## Delete and restore

Deleting a Company also deletes the Contacts that belong to it, and the confirmation counts them before you agree. Deleted records rest in the Bin for 30 days. See [Bin and restore](https://docs.saphion.co.uk/admin/bin-and-restore.md).
