Your Beacon allowance is the amount of AI work you can do each month. **Settings > Usage & plan** shows how much of it you have used and when it resets, so a long job never surprises you. > [!NOTE] > > Everyone with a Platform seat has an allowance. ## Check your usage **1. Open Usage & plan** Choose **Settings > Usage & plan**, under **Preferences**. You can also choose **See all** at the top of the usage ring in the Beacon composer. **2. Read your allowance** The **Beacon** meter shows what you have used as a percentage, for example "35% used · resets 1 Nov, 00:00". The reading includes work that is still in progress and work awaiting confirmation, so it can rise while a job runs. **3. Check your plan** The **Plan** row names your plan (Standard Beacon, Beacon Pro or Beacon Max) and your allowance compared with Standard, for example "5× Standard's monthly AI allowance". ### Check it from the chat Under the Beacon box, a small ring shows how much of the month's allowance you have used. Point at it for the percentage and the reset time (shown in UTC), or press it for a panel headed **Plan usage limits** with your plan. **See all** opens **Settings > Usage & plan**. Your account menu has a **Usage** row that shows how much you have left and opens **Usage & plan**. If your allowance is unlimited, the ring shows an infinity mark and the reading is **Unlimited**. ## When you are running low The composer warns you twice: when you have used 90% of the month, and when the allowance is gone. * "You've used 92% of this month's personal AI allowance. It resets …" * "You've used this month's personal AI allowance. It resets …" Your allowance resets at the start of each calendar month. Until then you can keep working in the rest of Saphion. If your Admin has switched on extra AI capacity, Beacon draws on it only after your own allowance runs out. Ask your Admin, who sets it under **Settings > Usage & billing**. ## How it works * **Your plan sets the size.** Your personal plan, Standard, Pro or Max, sets your allowance. Organisation Admins see the Organisation's usage and plan under **Settings > Usage & billing**. Higher **Effort** and **Fast mode** use your allowance faster, and a higher effort also makes better images. A single long job can use a lot. A model your plan does not include stays visible in the model menu and says why it is unavailable. > [!NOTE] > > Pro and Max are assigned by Saphion. An Admin can see each person's licence under **Access & licences** on the Members screen, and can ask Support to change it. See [Teams and Permissions](https://docs.saphion.co.uk/admin/teams-and-permissions.md#see-what-a-person-can-do). ### What the percentage means The meter shows a percentage, not tokens or prices. A reading Saphion cannot establish says so, instead of showing an empty bar that looks like zero. ## FAQ > **When does my allowance reset?** > > At the start of each calendar month. **Settings > Usage & plan** shows the exact time for your Organisation, and the ring's tooltip shows it in UTC. > **Why did my usage go up after the answer finished?** > > The meter counts work in progress and work awaiting confirmation. It settles to the real figure when the work completes. > **Can I see what each chat cost?** > > No. Saphion shows your standing for the month, not a record of individual chats. > **How do I move to Pro or Max?** > > Contact Support or your Saphion contact. Licences are managed by Saphion. > **Do my colleagues share my allowance?** > > No. Each person has their own personal allowance.
